Hit the Road

These designs are the result of over 35 years of tracking down the most serious and challenging waves I could find. They originated in the powerful Cronulla reef breaks of Voodoo, Shark Island and Cronulla Point. Early trips to Hawaii’s North Shore further developed the design's ability to handle large pieces of ocean, but it ws through spending extended periods in the remote North West Australian desert and the long winding, barrels of Indonesia’s 13,000 islands that they really came into their own. These boards are designed to handle whatever the ocean throws you and are right home with steep drops, long racing walls and deep barrels. If you’ve got some serious waves with some water moving around a Hit the Road gun or semi gun is the board that will get you in.....and back out again.

• The 2009 series has a new improved rocker curve plus a very slight improved planshape
  which overall produces a punchier and more dynamic performing board.

Dimensions

• Length – from 6’8” through to 10’0”
• Width – generally around 18 ½” – ¾”
• Thickness – up to 7’0” ride them the same as your standard short board then adding an extra 1/8” - 1/4" per 6” can come in handy. It all depends on where you’re surfing

“I found myself hanging in the lip and taking a bigger drop than I ever imagined I would see in real life. And the board just slotted right in and I went down, around, up, inside and trimmed as I "casually" pumped myself along at incredible speed for probably 50 metres and then I was on the face and doing big driving curves, sending spray over the back and just flying along. I paddled back what seemed like a kilometer and received several compliments from the crew. Only got two more waves that session but in every case the HTR was rock steady, hung in perfectly where it needed to, and was really, really fast.
