Hit the Road

It’s getting pretty hard to improve these….they’ve been going pretty good and have been hard to fault for a long time now.  Last year I spent a lot of time in WA up North and down South putting these boards through their paces.  These designs are the result of over 30 years of tracking down the most serious challenging waves I could find. The designs originated in the powerful Cronulla reef breaks of Voodoo, Shark Island and Cronulla Point and early trips to Hawaii’s North Shore. But they really came into their own through spending extended periods in the remote North West Australian desert and the long winding, barrels of Indonesia’s 13,000 islands. These boards are designed to handle whatever the ocean throws you and are right home with steep drops, long racing walls and deep barrels. My 8’0” HTR is probably the best gun I have ever made….incredible responsiveness for that size board.If you’ve got some serious waves with some water moving around a Hit The Road gun or semi gun is the bard that will get you in.....and back out again.

• Length – from 6’8” through to 8’0”
• Width – generally around 18 ½” – ¾”
• Thickness – up to 7’0” ride them the same as your standard short board then adding an extra 1/8” per 6” can come in handy. It all depends on where you’re surfing

“I found myself hanging in the lip and taking a bigger drop than I ever imagined I would see in real life. And the board just slotted right in and I went down, around, up, inside and trimmed as I "casually" pumped myself along at incredible speed for probably 50 metres and then I was on the face and doing big driving curves, sending spray over the back and just flying along.
